“Broken Places” – this short film poses the complex question of why some children are severely damaged by early adversity, while others are able to thrive. To help answer this question, the film makers explore 40 years of their film archives to update a few of the stores of children growing up in difficult situations that they filmed decades ago. Some of these children were so scarred by the abuse and neglect, that they developed issues around mental health, substance abuse, and criminal activity. Other children however were able to overcome the comparable childhood stress and are healthy, self-sufficient adults. Join us in viewing this film, which is then followed by a facilitated discussion and “call to action”.
The presentation is for professionals.
