Parents Café: Human Trafficking

August 19, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Topic:  Human Trafficking

Date:  August 19, 2021

Time: Noon – 1:00 pm (Eastern Time)

Description:  Human trafficking is the 2nd fastest growing crime in INDIANA, behind drugs.  It is so important to know how to keep our children safe, and parents are encouraged to bring your questions!

Join us as Jessica Evans from Allies Inc. (an agency who “empowers survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation through awareness, prevention education and connection”) facilitates our discussion.

Our Nurturing Parents Café is more of a facilitated discussion instead of one of our regular trainings/webinars, Training Credits will not be available.

The Parent Cafes are a monthly, relaxed discussion around Parenting Topics. Participants are encouraged to bring YOUR OWN ISSUES, and gain insights and resources!

Speaker:    Jessica Evans from Allies Inc. (an agency who “empowers survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation through awareness, prevention education and connection”).

Jessica’s heart was first tugged by the issue of human trafficking in 2007 during a visit to Nepal. When she returned from her trip, she knew there was a calling on her life to be a part of the anti-trafficking movement by educating the Indianapolis community and inspiring others to participate in ending human trafficking. In 2011, she founded the non-profit, Allies (formerly Purchased), and since then, has educated thousands of Hoosiers on the issue, and established programs to serve survivors of trafficking and their families all over Indiana. Jessica is a certified and seasoned facilitator of the nationally recognized My Life My Choice curriculum, co-creator of the “What Would I Do?” curriculum, and a member of the Indiana Protection of Abused and Trafficked Humans Task Force. She is a 2003 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University and holds a certificate in Nonprofit Executive Leadership from IU. She recently received achievement awards from the Women Like Us foundation and Indiana Youth Services Association for her contribution to anti-trafficking efforts in Indiana.
