Lawrence County

Lawrence County

Prevent Child Abuse – Lawrence County is proud to be a member of the Lawrence County community since 1995. Our mission is to prevent child abuse in our community, to educate ourselves and others on ways to prevent child abuse, and to advocate for policies which would decrease child abuse.

Our goal for 2010 is to educate ourselves and others about what needs to be done in order to truly decrease the incidence of child abuse and neglect in our community and our state. Prevent Child Abuse – Lawrence County is also the host organization for Safe Kids Lawrence County. The mission of Safe Kids is to prevent accidental injury to children.

Prevent Child Abuse – Lawrence County participates in a number of activities in the county. We have handed out positive parenting information, bicycle helmets, relationship safety information, tips for dealing with crying babies, babysitter information cards, and child safety seats.

With the Teens for Kids First high school students, we present a puppet show in each second grade in the school system that educates them on what is (and is not) child abuse. We distribute information to parents of new babies and parents of children entering kindergarten to help them better understand their child’s development and needs at that stage of life.

The Board of Directors of Prevent Child Abuse – Lawrence County is active, curious, and motivated. Please join us!
