Prevent Child Abuse of Jefferson County
MISSION: PCA of Jefferson County works together with the community to strengthen families through awareness and education.
VISION: Jefferson County is a community where children are safe from abuse and neglect and all families are valued.
PCA Jefferson County is a chartered Council of Prevent Child Abuse Indiana. Our local Council is staffed entirely with volunteers. We hold an annual poster contest during April for elementary students. We have a pinwheel display on the courthouse lawn and at River Valley Bank during April. We also have a display at the public library during April and in the foyer of River Valley. Displays include brochures about parenting (stress management), water safety, shaken child syndrome, etc.
Our Council also staffs a booth each year at the 4-H fair, where we display the winning posters and give out bags with information. Council members provide presentations (at no charge) about Shaken Child Syndrome.
We are currently raising funds to buy a puppet program on bullying. We plan to use the program in local elementary schools, library and the 4-H fair.
